That's where one would look to find to house league and other weekend tournaments, as this site is just for the Provincials.

Wed 31 Aug 2011 DISTRICT 2 OTTAWA WEST CRUSADERS EARN THE JOE SHEA TEAM SPORTSMANSHIP AWARD FOR THE 2011 BIG LEAGUE CANADIANS

I was very pleased to present this award to the Crusaders on behalf of Little League Canada.

The 2011 Big League Canadian championship was marred by a brawl, bad feelings, and other shenanigans. Not only did the Crusaders remain above it all, they also made it to the semi-finals. They lost 2-1 to the eventual champion Prairies team. Rudyard Kipling's classic poem, "If", certainly applies here. It starts, "If you can keep your head when all about you are losing theirs..." and ends "you'll be a Man my son!" The adults of District 2 have every reason to be very proud of this group of young men.

As I said when I handed the award over, Little League is a program of service to youth, the purpose of which is to build good citizens by teaching them the values of teamwork, leadership and good sportsmanship -- we just happen to use baseball as the vehicle for that. Most people might have preferred to win the Canadian Championship, of course, but let's not undervalue the Sportsmanship Award. From all the adults who were involved in the development of these young men since their T-ball days, we say not only "Congratulations" but also "Thank You" for winning this award.

Sat 01 Oct 2011 LL Ontario Annual General Meeting hosted by District 4 in Timmins, ON

Good meeting, great hosting job. No major changes, but some minor tweaks to the By-Laws, Hosting Regulations or Tournament Regulations -- they should be posted soon. The entire Board was acclaimed to the same positions for 2012 as held in 2011. 2010-2011 Director Kathy Recchia was returned for the 2012-2013 term. District 4 gave up its obligation to host the 2012 Junior Provincials, and District 7 (host league Cornwall) won an election to replace them. For the future, we will have to bid on the 2013 Minors, which District 3 is giving up. We also must find a host for the 2013 Senior Canadians.

A Word About Provincial Tournament Dates

From January to early July, the number one question I get is "What are the dates of the Provincial Tournaments?". I am getting tired of repeating myself, so I'm going to sum it up right here:

Tournament END dates ARE known because they are three days (Finals plus two rain/rest days) before the travel day to the Canadians, and those have been confirmed. They are shown on the table below.
Tournament START dates ARE NOT known, until we know how many teams will be playing in each, and what format they are using.
These are the steps we have to follow in order to get the final Tournament dates:
- On "Confirmation Day" (around 20-24 May each year for Minor thru Senior, 6-10 June for Big League) we should know which Districts are attending which Provincial Tournaments. Until then we do not know how many teams are playing in each, and therefore we do not know the format of each tournament nor how many days each will take to play.
- A week after each "Confirmation Day", schedules will be submitted for approval. For Minor thru Senior, there will be two versions, one with a Host team, and one without. That's because the Minor thru Senior tournaments have the option of having a host team if the host league is not the district champ. This changes the number of teams by one, and is only known at the end of the host league's Districts, which is not until some time in July.
So, you now know as much as I do. I can promise you that I will keep this page, and the table below, updated with the best available information, as per the dates listed above.
Bottom line: Look at the end date. The start date is going to be about a week to ten days before that, depending on all those things I mentioned above.
